Everything to Know About the Ford Freestar

The Ford Freestar is a reliable minivan equipped with the newest engineering and safety features. The vehicle is roomy, and comfortable, as the third seating fold-down ability provides added space for carrying huge luggage loads. It can accommodate seven passengers, making it perfect for personal as well as professional use. Although the Freestar performs great, it has underperformed since being overhauled a few years ago due to competition from more recent entries in the market.

About Ford

Henry Ford and 11 other investors formed Ford Motor Company, an American automaker, in 1903. Based on 2015 car production figures, Ford is the fifth-largest automaker in the world (after Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and General Motors) and the second-largest automaker with a U.S.

Based on global revenues of $156.7 billion in 2017, Ford Motors, which has since returned to profitability, was ranked 7th in the 2018 Fortune 500 list.

Engine and performance

There are two engines available. The 3.9-liter V6 engine in the base SE versions cranks out 193 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. The 4.2-liter V6 engine that comes standard only on the Freestar SEL and Limited produces 201 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque.
The power of the V6 engine is sufficient for moving around town without difficulty, although it quickly wanes while on a highway.

Both vehicles have poor refinement ratings since they are noisier than most other V6s in this market.

The Ford Freestar has below-average fuel economy ratings: The EPA rates the SE model at 18 city/24 highway mpg, compared to merely 17/23 for the SEL and Limited.

Interiors

The Ford Freestar is outfitted by Ford designers with an appealing dash and steering wheel, as well as attractive materials. Both adults and children may struggle to stretch their legs in the second row, and removing the seats to create room for goods might be challenging.

Instead of offering a 60/40 split like most competitors, the third-row seat simply folds flat in one piece. Positively, it can be turned over to become a tailgate bench, which is a convenient feature for the stadium parking lot. 135.7 cubic feet is the maximum cargo capacity, less than most of the vans in the category.

Technology

Controls for the audio and climate are accessible and easy to use. The manual controls for the heating and air conditioning are simple but effective. Although it isn’t cosmetically beautiful, the optional electronic climate control is effective. The system regulates the driver, passenger, and rear zones. On hot days, rear air conditioning is an essential feature for keeping the passengers cool and comfortable.

Safety

All Ford Freestar cars come equipped with four-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, braking assist, a stability control system, and a tire-pressure monitor as standard equipment. All trim models have front seat-mounted side airbags as standard equipment, although side curtain airbags covering all three rows of seats are unavailable. Self-sealing tires, reverse parking sensors, and power-adjustable pedals—with a memory feature on Limited models—can all be added to any Freestar model at an additional cost.

Trim levels

Seven passengers can ride in the Ford Freestar minivan, which comes in three trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited. Beginning with 16-inch steel wheels, privacy glass, full power accessories, air conditioning, a second-row bench seat for two passengers, a CD player, cruise control, and keyless entry, base SE versions are well-equipped.

A power driver seat, second-row captain’s chairs, leather-wrapped steering wheel, alloy wheels, tri-zone air conditioning (with separate rear controls), and an overhead console with a compass and temperature display are inclusive in the SEL model.

In addition to leather upholstery, a leather/wood steering wheel, automatic climate control, an upgraded sound system with rear-seat audio controls, chrome wheels, heated mirrors with puddle lamps, power sliding doors, a trip computer, and an analog clock, the high-end Freestar Limited has all these features and more.
